Jakarta DPRD Commission A, held a working meeting to discuss the arrangement of online transportation in Jakarta.
The meeting is held to discuss issues of common concern
The meeting was attended by three online transportation operators, namely Grab, Gojek, and Maxim. There were also executive parties, such as Law Bureau Head, Sigit Pratama Yudha; Jakarta Bappeda Vice Head, Tri Indrawan; Bylaw Enforcement Section Head and Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Rahmat Effendi Lubis; and representatives of Jakarta Diskominfotik.
Jakarta DPRD Commission A Chairman, Mujiyono disclosed the online transportation sector had made a significant contribution to society, including alternative modes of transportation to avoid traffic jams, create jobs, and provide wider market access for MSMEs. However, online motorcycle taxi drivers during the morning and evening rush hours occupied some of the road space which hampered the flow of traffic around it.
Commission A Expects Public Participation to Handle Increased FiresThen that the behavior of online transportation partners who did not heed the rules, such as using sidewalks as parking spaces, irregular pick-up and drop-off locations for passengers, caused inconvenience for users of online transportation services, and other residents.
"The meeting is held to discuss issues of common concern, namely arranging online transportation, thus it doesn't cause traffic jams that disturb people's comfort. We're not looking for who is right or wrong, but looking for joint solutions to the problems that occur," he expressed, at city council building, Tuesday (7/2).
He explained the results of the joint working meeting agreed on a number of points for online transportation parties, including that organizers could regulate both the terms and conditions of the operational system.
He also asked for additional shelters for online transportation drivers in Jakarta to stop because the 15 shelter points currently available are inadequate.
"We urge online motorcycle taxi partners not to be easily provoked when Satpol PP officers provide information about orderly traffic on the road," he stated.
